We released forty eight Monarch Butterflies
at the ceremony.
The image on the main page of a Monarch Butterfly is one of the creatures that decided to stay with us at the hotel for a few days. We found it sipping nectar from some wild flowers at the hotel.
There is an Indian Butterfly Legend that makes
beautiful creatures even more special.
The Aztecs also believed Butterflies were very special.
The Aztecs believed the souls of the departed remained on earth in the form of butterflies. Even images carved in the ancient Aztec monuments show this belief - the linking the spirits of the dead and the Monarch butterfly. So with the return of the Monarch butterflies, who migrate to Mexico for the winter, the souls of the departed are welcomed home.
